Long distant roads

The road we do follow, we do open our eyes,
A distance we will travel, in search for the prize.
The route may become rough, but on-wards we go,
Must get to the end, is all that we know.

The road we do follow, we may walk with friends,
Not far have we come, long time till it ends.
The route may become soft, but we stay on track,
Must get to the end, we must never look back.

The road we do follow, the time does go quick,
A road leads us onward, in health and if sick.
The route may become loose, but we keep on going,
Must get to the end, our tiredness is now showing.

The road we do follow, some don't make this far,
A road that's so long, must know where we are.
The route may become slippery, but we do not slow,
Must get to the end, even if spirit is low.

The road we do follow, are now nearing it's end,
A distance we have travelled, no need to pre-tend.
The route so much harder, as minutes do become hours,
Must get to the end, and rest with the flowers.
