Seven Days

A poetic journey through the origins of the names

The day of week, starts it all off,
A day of rest, from pauper to toff.
Give thanks to SOLIS, we do now say,
What better name given, than the SUN's DAY.

The next of days, work we do start,
For these days we, all played the part.
Give thanks to LUNA, in our own way,
What better name given, than the MOON's DAY.

The third day arrives, we work so well,
The God of war, in Norse we tell.
Give thanks to TIU, the offering we pay,
What better name given, than the TIU's DAY.

Middle of the week, half the way through,
The chief God Odin, in Norse we show.
Give thanks to WODEN, come what does may,
What better name given, than the WODEN's DAY

Fifth day does arrive, with such a wonder,
The Norse God Thor, the creator of thunder.
Give thanks to THOR, his power does stay,
What better name given, than the THOR's DAY.

Sixth day is here, with love does flow,
The Goddess of love, in Norse I know.
Give thanks to FRIJA, love never go away,
What better name given, than the FRI's DAY

The last day arrives, before day of rest,
Saturni the Greek God, agriculture and the harvest.
Give thanks to SATURNI, soon time to play,
What better name given, than the SATURNS's DAY.

S Walker WOW I love this poem!! i have learned something new today!
